Winning an Award at the Edgars

This morning brought some incredible news.  The first email I saw was from Janet Hutchings, the editor of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.  The Edgar Awards were announced that morning, and I had won the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award, which goes to the best first story.  (It’s not an actual Edgar – more of an associated award.)  I found another email in my inbox from the Mystery Writers of America, with a list of the Edgar nominees and other awards, and there is was – my name.  I check the nomination list, and found that there were 22 stories that were nominated for this honor, and I was chosen.

So, at the end of April I’ll be going to New York City to attend the Edgar Banquet (as a guest of Ms. Hutchings).
